Head Coach, Lafayette County HS MO We've been running the Pistol Wing-T since the Fall of 2012. Since adopting this offense, we have amassed a 122-27 record, winning 10 conference championships, 8 district championships, been in the state semifinals twice, and been runners up once.

About this speaker

Steve Cook began his coaching career at Lafayette County High School in Higginsville, Missouri, 50 miles east of Kansas City, in 2000 after graduating from the University of Central Missouri in the Spring of 2002. 

He began as an assistant in football, basketball, and track for six years. He became head girls track coach for two seasons before taking over both girls and boys in 2008 to the present. The past two seasons also serving as the head girls basketball coach.

Coach Cook started his head football coaching career in 2007. After starting with two 4-6 seasons he has built a 170-48 record in 18 seasons. The Huskers have won 12 Missouri River Valley East Conference titles and 9 district championships. They have finished three times in the Class 2 state quarterfinals, twice in the semifinals, and twice as state Class 2 runners-up in 2011 and 2017.

The Huskers switched from the split back veer to the Nevada Pistol offense from 2009-13 and the Wing T Pistol from 2014-present, an offense that has averaged 39.2 points per game.

He is married to his wife Sarah, the school’s vocal music teacher, and they have two children, Miriam, 17, and Joel 14.
